The system is _fighting wars of format_

So SONY just released details on a $600 Blu-ray player. All I can ask is, why buy that when you can just go get a PS3 for the same price which is not only a Blu-ray player but a gaming console along with other things I'd imagine.

But really which is better hd-dvd or blu-ray? Lets break it down.

Format | HD-dvd | Blu-ray
Size (most common) | 15/(30) GB | (25)/50 GB
Video Codecs | at least 13 | at least 3
Audio Codecs | at least 9 | at least 6
Regions | 0 (zero) | 3
Cost (Player) | >$200 (Xbox addon) | >$600 (PS3)

So, from the stuff I found on wikipedia HD looks alot better, but the real winner as Stephen Colbert would say, is the American People.
